Business Unit Manager - Cold Stamp
JOB SUMMARY
Manages, directs, and implements operations strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of Business Unit goals. This position recommends improvements in manufacturing methods to the Assistant Plant Director or Plant Director. The position is also responsible for assuring the manufacture of the required quantity and quality of products and performs this in a safe environment at minimum costs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the Safety, Quality, Production, maintenance, tooling and engineering of the cold stamp business unit.
Adhere to Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies
Meet GHSS and OSHA requirements for safety as it relates to the business unit
Ensure safe work practices are being followed by all team members.
Responsible for developing and meeting / exceeding Budget KPIs as it relates to the business unit.
Ensure that all launches are on time and within budgetary scope.
Responsible for performance KPIs (safety, quality, SPM, OEE, Changeover, PM completion, etc) for the business unit
responsible for people development (training, succession plan) for the cold stamp business unit.
Leads daily production meetings to communicate production goals, quality issues, current business events, and provide feedback on overall team performance. Maintain excellent communication with all department managers.
Ensure Customer highest satisfaction (on time delivery, PPM).
Responsible for Great Place to Work initiatives and results of the business unit.
Monitors and reports daily production activities. Drives for achieving targets and holds team accountable.
Assist with Layered Process Audits, as well as internal and external certification audits.
Foster culture that supports team principles and a lean manufacturing system
Controls allocation and use of personnel to ensure fulfillment of production schedules in all departments of the business unit.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS in Operations Management, or other similar type of business curriculum -or- 8 plus years’ experience in automotive transfer/prog press/metal stamping/robotic welding;
Experience in supervising other employees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of plant management systems, productivity measures, safety and quality assurance.
Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes: stamping, welding and laser cutting.
High level of communication skills both written and verbal with proven computer skills.
A thorough understanding of labor relations, employee involvement, continuous improvement, lean principles, and group problem solving.
Ability to make business decisions and to develop and lead a strong management team.
