Role Summary
Supports Tooling, Operations, and Quality as die tender. Cleaning and washing dies.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety of self, including outside contractors and/or support personnel.
- Routinely cleans dies, following a schedule so that every die in the plant is cleaned/washed at the required frequency.
- Take dies to tool room or storage, as necessary.
- Open, flip, and clean/wash dies in tool room.
- Manages the flow of dies through the tool room and wash bay.
- Operates high pressure washing equipment, Pneumatic grinders, overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Identifies opportunities to improve work-flow to maximize daily output.
- Reports tooling related issues to the area Supervisor as they are observed.
- Perform daily checklist on cranes and operate and pre-inspect straps and slings before use.
- Maintains die storage areas in an organized way when pulling or placing dies in storage area. Put dies in correct location.
- Improve overall safety and efficiency related issues by taking a pro-active lead in the Continuous Improvement Activities.
- As part of the tooling team, Die Tender is expected to take an active role in housekeeping of the work area.
- Assist with on the job training.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary or appropriate.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and make daily adjustments to the schedule as needed.
Knowledge and Education
- High school diploma/GED required with technical schooling preferred.
- At least 1 year job related experience.
- Can demonstrate work experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift and Crane Certified.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Ability to work under pressure to tight timelines.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Clear understanding of Lean Principals & Tools
