Role Summary

The incumbent is responsible for the Production functions and Planning and Logistics functions.  Safety within the plant, health & welbeing of the team members,

increasing efficiency, reducing cost and delivering productivity and quality. To ensure 100% on-time delivery, and the development of the department strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all plant Production processes and activities are managed in a manner which maximises team member safety and complies with all relevant environmental and Health & Safety Legislation.
  • To drive Health & Safety and Environmental programmes throughout the Production teams developing a strong HSE culture.
  • To provide leadership to on all aspects related to the manufacturing of our products, to fulfil our customers’ needs in the most efficient and profitable way. Implementation and sustainibility of best practice
  • To establish, develop and motivate a world class team, driving performance, process rigour, and a continuous improvement mind set across the organisation.
  • Drive to meet the On Time Delivery targets by putting in place the necessary production capacity, resources and systems.
  • Lead continuous productivity focus delivering tangible results.
  • Co-ordinate activities of the team to optimise cost performance of the plant, optimising operating working capital usage and minimising waste.
  • Continually refine and remove waste from manufacturing activities. Drive the implementation of 5S and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Provide input to, and support of, the Gestamp strategic initiatives.
  • Plan for improvement in both customer service levels and costs to provide product to customers.
  • Act as a champion of quality ensuring that there is a continuous improvement mind-set in place, applying the necessary tools to meet set targets.
  • Develop with HR an environment conducive to personal learning and development ensuring all team members are fully informed and equipped to deliver maximum performance.

Key Qualifications

  • Be qualified or studying towards a formal Management qualification.

Knowledge and Education

  • To have significant people management experience, preferably in a high volume automotive first tier supplier environment, with a sound knowledge of modern production management techniques.
  • Have some understanding of basic employment law.  Company HR policies & procedures, including some handling of discipline and grievance related matters along with interview and selection skills and experience.
  • Have the ability to lead, coach, mentor and motivate a team of people to develop their growth.  To demonstrate an understanding of what behaviours are required to get the most out of people.
  • Possess the ability to develop strategy, objectives and a plan to deploy & govern the strategy.  To be able to manage resources to achieve objectives and priorities despite conflicting agendas and multiple deliverables.
  • To  have an understanding and appreciation of the financial aspects of running a plant, to have a knowledge of product profitability & costing structure and possess solid analytical, communication and leadership skills.
  • To have experience of managing & developing customer relationships.  To be able to provide customer feedback under pressure whilst maintain a professional structured approach, maintaining the image of our organisation.
