Key Tasks / Responsibilities
To co-ordinate Engineering activities to include Health & Safety
To continually assess ways of ensuring equipment is optimised and specified to minimise the risk of accidents/injuries
Provide systematic approach to problem solving and co-ordinate activities
Attend and support actions from problem solving activities, Production and daily management meetings
Available to support out of normal working hours
Deal with customers on a one to one basis with regards to issues and engineering changes
The successful management of the departmental personnel to attain KPI's and customer targets
Ensure best practice in Health & Safety on all aspects of day-to-day working
Support the development of the manufacturing engineers with current and new equipment
To monitor Key Performance Indicators (OEE) on improvement areas & Act accordingly
Development, installation, commission & validation of new, modified & re-sited equipment & facilities
Recommendations r on contingency planning to cover the event of equipment failure, including recommended spares
Plan and co-ordinate shutdown activities relating to projects being worked on
Tacit Knowledge / Experience
Experience of fast paced, JIT, demanding work environment (high volume tier 1 automotive environment would be advantageous)
Project managing shutdown/improvement activity experience
Excellent organisational & team working / building skills. Ability to delegate effectively & utilise available resource
Thorough working knowledge of welding process and technologies (Spot and Mig)
Thorough understanding of Project Management, & Process Optimisation techniques
Familiarity with Robotics
Familiarity with Tooling
Knowledge and experience of implementing modern production techniques
Liaison- previous experience min of 3 years, proven record of establishing relationships, and maintaining good working relationships, proven ability to influence customer, good level of self- presentation, ability to express ideas articulately, clear presentation of written material, understanding of appropriate customers culture, work processes, style of operation
Financial awareness previous experience of monitoring budgets, understanding of financial implications of decisions
Key Requirements
Recognised 4 year apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
Computer literate (Microsoft Office packages, understanding of automated monitoring software advantageous)
Firm knowledge of CAD and Autodesk products
Achieve customer quality standards by successful implementation of procedures and standards
The consistent achievement of quality standards as determined by the customer. Adherence improvements and successful implementation of procedures and standards
To undertake liaison with production shift managers both on site and off site where appropriate, to address quality concerns, provide feedback and liaison concerning production schedules and processes/procedures, and to contribute to continuous improvement activity
