JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of this position will be to research, plan, and implement cold stamping process development and improvements of progressive and transfer presses. Identify and coordinate tooling and process initiatives to foster continuous improvement across departments for long-term success. Monitor mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic equipment in support of meeting production goals. Review production trends to develop actionable plans in the press shop. Define product cycle time and perform time study and methods engineering analysis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure adherence to safety rules and PPE.
Support maintenance troubleshooting of presses and implementation of corrective actions including interface with controls, robots, and PLC systems.
Setup and programming new press jobs.
Develop and document process, procedures, instructions and parameters for new and existing jobs working closely with Press Techs/Team leads and supervisors.
Develop and deliver procedures to ensure the equipment meets all targets relating to Quality, Cost and Delivery.
Improve overall processes and related issues by taking a pro-active lead in the Continuous Improvement Activities.
Maintain current knowledge of industry technology and advances.
Other duties will include the design, installation and de-bug of machinery and capital equipment.
Support the Program Management group in evaluation of new work and processes.
Support the Production group in evaluation and improvement of product throughput.
Support team functions by:
Kaizen submittal and implementation
Supports operational metrics and meets operational needs
Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule
Participation in definition of stamping lay-outs.
Participation in the Internal/External certification Audits
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic / Mechanical Engineering / Technical / Industrial degree or equivalent, OR;
5+ years’ experience and training in a similar role and environment.
3-5 years cold stamp with 3-5 years cold stamp tooling experience desirable
Can demonstrate work experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Automotive industry experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints.
Proficient in AutoCAD
Proficiency in PLC’s (Siemens & Panelview HMI’s) a plus;
Working knowledge of MS Office.
Clear understanding of Lean Principals & Tools.
