Job Summary

Support the Chassis Business Unit, by monitoring testing and results of testing on Prototype and Production Chassis parts. This position will also create test reports for both internal and external stakeholders and communicate test results. The Test Engineer will also define new tests according to customer specifications.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-    Write reports about the tests performed and take part in meetings with clients and/or the rest of the team when needed. 
-    Monitor tests on prototypes and parts, assuring the schedule of work, quality standards and testing protocols are met.
-    Coordination with other R&D Centers, exchanging experiences and resources.
-    To define appropriate physical test that will replicate the loading conditions of the vehicle or CAE simulation and create test instruction.
-    Solving problems relating to the test performance (crack analysis, lack of correlation, early failure) or testing resources (sensors verifications, test procedure programming)
-    Schedule testing to take into account any topic that may influence the test duration: actuators availability, bedplate space availability, number of samples to be tested, number of test different test set ups, inspections, etc.
-    Definition of the test and fixture design including resource (and CAD if required) based on customer sepcification.
-    Carry out data aquistion and setup including (strain gauges, load cells, LVDT's) and to interpret and analyse the key aspects of the data
-    To be able to carry out signal adjustment and signal iteration in order to accuratly run road load data time history.
-    To support physical rig assembly, manufacture and component testing where required.
-    Program, request, monitor and register the calibration of tools and physical testing resources under his responsibility, according to established procedures.
-    Keep clean and tidy testing facilities, resources and tools, to guarantee their good conditions.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-    Bacholor's degree in Engineering 
-    Understanding of testing methodology and design of experiments
-    Understanding if failure modes and assessment of test results
-    Understanding of test lab equipment of capability


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
-    Proficient with Microsoft Office Software -    Strong Mechnical ability
-    Proficient in writing work instructions, test instructions, test logs and test reports
-    Understanding measurement techniques (torque wrenches, dial indicators)
-    Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written.
-    Willingness to be flexible with schedules (OT, Weekends, Holidays etc)
-    Understanding engineering drawings and technical specifications.
-    International travel might be required.
-    Ability to communicate fluently in English
-    General awareness / experience working in a environment with heavy equipment, high pressure oil, overhead crane and forktrucks.
