JOB SUMMARY  

The HSE Manager inspects work areas, products, and associate work habits to ensure that everything complies with GHSI, OSHA rules, safety and environmental guidelines, and makes changes to improve the safety of the workplace when necessary.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Implements safety programs, including developing safety methods, procedures, and policies based on company guidelines.  
  • Monitors safety program and company metrics analysis and improvement system.
  • Monitors workplace daily to ensure all activity meets safety compliance
  • Performs risk analysis and measures and evaluates the effectiveness of safety policies and makes needed modifications.
  • Responds to on-site emergencies and accidents, facilitates the emergency response Team (ERT), safety team, and environmental team.
  • Responsible for the management of the GHSI (Global Health and Safety Indicator).
  • Identifies hazards or faults that caused the accident and devises a strategic plan to remedy those problems. Initiates, performs, and oversees all aspects of operations, technical, safety, environmental and quality training and documentation.
  • Responsible for implementing, administering, maintaining, and evaluating programs for Environmental Management System ISO 14001 & Health & Safety System 45001.
  • Storm Water Program Mgr and Certified Storm Water Operator. 
  • Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule andISO 9001/IATF Audit. 
  • Stays up to date on state and federal workplace safety regulations.
  • Performs other assigned duties as necessary.   

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor degree (preferred), but any combination of degree and 2 – 5 years’ experience. 
  • Manufacturing experience - Automotive preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

  • Communicates details of safety procedures clearly to employees. 
  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of OSHA and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) guidelines.
  • Responds quickly and efficiently to emergencies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the specific tools, machinery, or equipment used in the specific place of work.
  • Exercises caution and alertness at all times.
