Tool & Die Maintenance Technician

Long Description

Role Summary

Performs scheduled and unscheduled die and equipment maintenance activities. Construction of tooling as needed. Continuous Improvement projects on Dies for peal performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to work without supervision in a fast-paced metal stamping environment.
  • Ability to work in a team-based lean-manufacturing environment. Knowledge of Progressive and Line dies.
  • Perform Die Repair/Tryout with emphasis on troubleshooting in the Press as well as on the bench.    
  • Operate Vertical Mill, Surface grinder, Radial Arm, Lathe, and Drill Press.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in accordance with plant requirements.
  • Any other jobs deemed necessary or appropriate.

 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ability to read micrometers, calipers, height gauge, tape measure, and perform shop math.
  • Must be able to operate all Tool Room machines.
  • Must own all tools for the trade and be able to utilize them where needed.
  • Must be able to TIG weld hardened details with knowledge of heating temperatures.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a timely fashion to keep production uptime.
  • Ability to operate Hi-Lo and Cranes.
  • Knowledge of spot bluing forms to next parts for proper fit.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary or appropriate. 

 

Knowledge and Education

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D

 

Work Experience

  • Three (3) years minimum in the Trade.

  • Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understand
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
