JOB SUMMARY
Position is the focal point of Gestamp Alabama's Continuous Improvement function relative to the development of new manufacturing processes, methods and technologies. Develop manufacturing proposals to obtain cost improvements consistent with our lean manufacturing strategies and corporate objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in developing and implementing the Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing infrastructure supporting changes within the plant.
2. Assist in identifying and implementing strategies for improvements to our supply chain, material flow, manufacturing & quality systems.
3. Facilitates and evaluates all Continuous Improvement programs and activities at each plant, ensuring that events, milestones, and deliverables are met on time and on budget.
4. Conducts cost/benefit analysis of continuous improvement proposals and prioritizes activities.
5. Maximizes efficiencies using Lean Manufacturing principles.
6. Strive to eliminate waste in our manufacturing, launch, and related processes.
7. Identify plant technological needs & opportunities, and recommend strategies to engineering & management.
8. Assist in developing and introducing new manufacturing methods and technologies to Gestamp Alabama.
9. Meet annual goals and objectives as agreed to with Executive V.P., Continuous Improvement.
10. Must be responsive to customer needs and expectations.
11. Maintain an open issues list for weekly review with V.P. Continuous Improvement.
12. Function within established corporate procedures (QS9000), etc.
13. Follow up to determine the effectiveness of any new methods introduced.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience, with emphasis on metal stamping and assembly. (preferably automotive related).
2. Metal stamping and assembly process design and build experience (preferred).
3. Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
4. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
5. Must have experience with the development of technology for manufacturing, and the application of technology on the shop floor.
