Job Summary
Assembly Joining Technician will provide support, leadership and direction to the Maintenance Technicians regarding joining equipment and processes. The Assembly Joining Technician will support and carry out the assignments and responsibilities provided to them by the Engineering Manager or his/her designees.
Duties and Responsibilities
In general, ensure the achievement of OEE / equipment availablity targets for the individual Business Units.
- Plan and implement improvements within Assembly related to joining processes. Joining Processes to include Resistance Welding, Clinching, Self-Pierce Riveting, Flow Drill, Rivtak, Drawn Arc, Laser and MIG welding.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams supporting activities related to joining quality.
- Provide technical support for joining equipment during the introduction of new models.
- Ensure proper joining specific documentation delivery from the Original Equipment Manufacturer and support buyoff activity of new equipment.
- Provide technical support to Assembly for resolving issues related to joining issues.
- Support the Assembly Department Technical Training and Development program by conducting training classes, providing technical documentation, etc...
- Make necessary adjustments to parts and equipment to ensure proper production runs.
- Perform duties of an assembly maintenance technician as needed (occasional off shift work may be required)
- Ensure properly documented equipment breakdown / activity reports are completed.
- Work with area Maintenance Planner or Weld Engineer to prioritize tasks to be completed during non-production hours.
- Ensure scheduled maintenance tasks are completed on time.
- Provide leadership and direction during equipment downtime events. Joining technician must be able to make good judgement decisions on technical matters and interface effectively with production / quality supervision.
- Ensures Root Cause Analysis of downtime is properly investigated and addressed.
- Ensure procurement of critical spare parts as it relates to joining equipment, consult with vendors as needed.
- Ensure joining documentation is up to date.
Education and Experience

AS: Electronics Technology or Mechatronics plus 5 years of automated manufacturing technical experiecne required
or
7+ years of experience and training in a similar role and environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High skill set with PC and communication skills
- Good understanding of IO, transfer of information between Robot and PLC and PLC functionality.
- Good understanding of Resistance Welding Processes.
- Experience in robotic spot welding, MIG welding and material handling required.
- Practical experience and good understanding of electrical circuitry and wiring.
- Sound mechanical ability to work on robot dress packages and peripheral equipment.
- Experience with PLC (Siemens / Allen Bradley) Bosch MFC weld controls, Henrob Rivmon, Trumpf TruControl . Trutops, Fronius Welding equipment a plus.
- Ability to work in a team based lean manufacturing environment.
- Fluent in English language both oral and written.
