JOB SUMMARY
Leads the efforts in support of engineering, operations and quality in terms of dimensional accuracy in a automotive / stamping & robotic-welded assembly environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement process improvements with regards to Dimensional Control using all available resources and technologies.
- Maintain assembly tools and systems to ensure manufacturing activities are kept within specification and apply new technology to improve manufacturing performance.
- Support maintenance activities directed toward assembly tools, support maintenance PM scheduling and improvement efforts.
- Collects, tracks, and advises on collected dimensional information and issues and implements short and long-term solutions to minimize error.
- Manage and execute in-house projects for implementing new engineering changes that modify assembly processes and change dimensional performance.
- Liaise with the Customer, Suppliers and vendors regarding dimensional issues, assembly concerns or process improvements.
- Common knowledge of robotics and welding of mild steel, hybrid and organic coated materials.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BS: Mechanical Engineering, CMM Technology, or other technical discipline, plus 3 years experience in an Automotive Manufacturing environment - OR -
- 6+ years Dimensional analysis and compliance experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience in BIW assembly processes.
- Technical expertise in using measurement equipment (Zeiss CMM, inline measurement systems, 3D scanning devices).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Advanced computer skills (NX, Zeiss PiWeb, Microsoft Office).
- Strong knowledge of root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving tools.
- Familiarity with statistical tools for process control.
- A lean manufacturing and continuous‑improvement mindset.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
- Strong proficiency with GD&T and Dimensional Layout analysis of automated assembly.
- Strong familiarity with all types of assembly processes used in manufacturing automotive components.
- Ability to work in a team-based lean-manufacturing environment.
