Materials Group Leader

JOB SUMMARY
Dynamic position for an individual that will be responsible for all aspects of shipping, receiving and material management functions on second shift, for a Word Class Fast Pace Tier One Automotive Manufacturer.  The Group Leader will be involved in all decision-making activities pertaining to the day-to-day shipping & receiving operations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.    Ensure the safety of all associates and Team Leaders reporting to this position.
2.    Create and maintain computer generated tools in the form of analytical data sheets, tracking sheets and reports to help manage the day-to-day operations. 
3.    Develop work instructions, procedures and training on processes as it pertains to S&R responsibilities.
4.    Warehouse management, including 5S and other Lean Manufacturing Activities.
5.    Returnable Container Management and assist in Returnable Container Repair Management.
6.    Responsible for the Back Yard organization and maintenance.
7.    Responsible for maintaining and ordering specific S&R supplies and tools as required for daily operations.
9.    Must be able to have the flexibility to work overtime daily and weekends as required and with short notice.
10.    Responsible for managing all required shipping documentation to the Customer by utilizing MAPICS & FUTURE 3, including, printing labels, transferring material locations in the system, creating Shippers, and timely ASN’s to the customer.
11.    Ensure the on-time delivery to set schedules of Finished Assemblies to all customers and maintain daily STR reports and records. 
12.    Act as the designated customer service representative (CSR) by communicating with customers regarding material concerns such as part shortages, returns, and logistics questions, while coordinating and following up with internal departments to secure information and resolve issues.
13.    Utilizing and maintaining the Ship Tracking Report to coordinate and prioritize accurate part & quantity shipments to the Customer.
14.    Responsible for adhering the Shipping Labels and scanning to Dock Staging Locations.
15.    Responsible for maintaining and coordinating part number ZGS changes.
16.    Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of Finished Assemblies to all customers.
18.    Adhere to Standardized Work Practices Documentation and Execution of the Shipping Process
20.     Assist the on-going development of Team Members in the continuous improvement of the shipping operations.
21.    Is required to be able to proficiently perform and/or know all job related functions of the operation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1.    An Associate’s Degree would be preferable or have at least 5 years’ experience as a leader in an automotive production/shipping & receiving Plant environment 
2.    Have a strong training in Safety Work Practices and STOP training.
4.    Must have prior Supervisor experience with strong skills directing & dealing with Team Leaders & Associates.
6.    Prior Inventory and/or Production Control experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Required to have excellent knowledge & experience with PC based systems Microsoft applications including Excel and Word
  2. Prior Experience with Future 3 Shipping Software and SAP would be a plus.
  3. Must have excellent people and oral & written communication skills.
  4. Must have an analytical & creative mind with excellent math skills.
