Job Summary

Provides Process Engineering support for automotive manufacturing facility. Engineer is responsible for dimensional accuracy of product, equipment efficiency and function in an automotive / stamping & robotic- welded assembly environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement process improvements with regards to dimensional control using all available resources and technologies
  • Maintain assembly tools and systems to ensure manufacturing processes are kept within specification and apply new technology to improve manufacturing performance as needed.
  • Support all activities directed toward assembly tools, support maintenance in PM / Cell Tune-Up activity.
  • Execute in-house projects for implementation of engineering changes which involve modification of assembly processes.
  • Liaise with the Press, Quality and Operations teams regarding dimensional issues, assembly concerns or process improvements of parts coming to assembly.
  • Lead Problem Solving activities for areas assigned.
  • Lead cross functional team in APQP core documentation creation including Process Flow, PFMEA and Control Plans.

Education and Experience

  • BS Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or other technical discipline plus 5 years experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Strong proficiency with GD&T and Dimensional Layout analysis of automotive products
  • Strong familiarity with all types of assembly processes used in Tier 1 automotive environment
  • Proficient with 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Demonstrated Problem solving experience
