Product Quality Engineer

The Product Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle. This role supports new product launches, production quality performance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement initiatives within an automotive stamping and robotic assembly environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality activities for assigned products and programs from launch through production.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and company quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and PPAP documentation.
  • Coordinate APQP and PPAP activities to support successful product launches.
  • Validate welding processes, dimensional requirements, inspection methods, and special processes.
  • Perform capability studies, MSA, SPC, and data analysis to monitor process performance.
  • Investigate customer concerns and internal quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Lead containment actions, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.
  • Conduct product, process, and system audits to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor quality KPIs and drive initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Support customer visits, audits, and quality-related communications.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supplier Quality to improve manufacturing performance and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field with 2+ years of quality experience in a stamping and/or robotic assembly environment; OR
  • Associate degree with 4+ years of related quality experience; OR
  • 7+ years of equivalent quality experience in a manufacturing environment.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
