JOB SUMMARY
The Metrologist coordinates inspection activity and operates/programs CMM/GOM to collect dimensional data and generate reports of measurements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collects data from the checking fixture according to the control plan.
2. Runs validation and verification routines for production tools such as check fixtures, manual gauges, etc.
3. Report any non-conformance detected on the production process to the Quality/Manufacturing Engineer.
4. Identify potential causes for process variation.
5. Responsible for dimensional control verification.
6. Support operations metrics for Pp and PpK.
7. Calibration of fixtures, measuring equipment, and gages
8. Repair fixtures, measuring equipment and gauges.
9. Scan Gages and parts using T-Scan
10. Review Checklist buyoff for gages.
11. Perform and lead Gage R&R as needed for new projects.
12. Review and keep CAD data for checking fixtures.
13. Verify Red Rabbits.
14. Recommend corrective actions of design, methods and processes to production and engineering departments.
15. Inspects machining or assembly fixtures, tools, or gauges, and suggests replacement or use of new equipment.
16. Compare work against standards of quality provided and distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable tolerances.
17. Interprets allowable tolerances specified on CAD.
18. Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately.
19. Keep work area clean and orderly to prevent safety hazards.
20. Assure adherence to quality policies and procedures including acceptable work standards, customer specifications and IPI requirements, to also include participation in the creation and support of systems, documentation and actions to ensure continued conformance to Quality (IATF) and Environmental (ISO) management systems.
21. Observe and follow company policies and maintain proper standards of conduct at all times.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
2. At least 3 years’ experience measuring and inspecting parts within a manufacturing environment required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Strong understanding of how to read micrometers, gages, blueprints.
2. Strong knowledge of GD&T.
3. Strong Math skills.
4. Knowledge of CMM software -> mandatory GOM
5. Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
6. Working knowledge of Microsoft office, Gage Trak a plus.
7. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and analyze data.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Detail oriented, problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
