Production Supervisor - California

Job Summary

Supervise all production related activities, including safety, quality, and manufacturing associates and equipment to meet or exceed Gestamp WV customer requirements. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Integrity through fair and safe behavior and responsibility for personal health at all times.  Wears required PPE and is aware of all safety key points related to the job and work area. Ensures proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
  • Empowered to monitor the work environment for safe working conditions and safe behaviors by others. Provides and receives feedback and takes direct action as necessary to maintain health and safety of others.
  • Exemplifies the values and vision of Gestamp, building a culture of teamwork and integrity addressing both customers internal and external.
  • Understand and apply training requirements.
  • Responsible for the tracking and reporting of employee’s hours worked to finance and payroll.
  • Report unusual circumstances or deviations from standards to Human Resources.
  • Insure Quality requirements are met per customer department standards and report any issues to Quality Manager. 
  • Press, laser, shot and weld assembly startup/shutdown and operation per production schedule using standardized work instructions to meet customer requirements
  • Apply Production Escalation Process as required.
  • Report any issues to Plant Manager and any and all effected departments.
  • Insure that SAP system is being used for all aspects of inventory control and material identification.
  • Report critical material or shipping shortages/issues to the Materials Manager.
  • Attend and chair meetings and presentations in support of the Gestamp manufacturing philosophy. 
  • Understand and apply company policies and immediately report any issues to Human Resources Manager.
  • Support and insure all daily 5S and work area organization is being adhered to.
  • Support team functions by:
  • Kaizen submittal and implementation
  • Cross-training with others
  • Back fills other work stations as needed
  • Problem solving
  • Supports operational metrics and meets operational needs 
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities and support all aspects of improving the company as a business unit.

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree or higher
  • Previous manufacturing experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Management/supervisory
  • Statistical analysis
  • Expert computer skills
  • Equipment operation
  • Teamwork development

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear
  • Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
  • Moderate noise level
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understand
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
