Controls Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Provides PLC support to plant maintenance, operations, and acts as a technical leader among the maintenance group in a highly 
automated automotive manufacturing environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Follow and develop standardized work instructions.
2. Electrical maintenance and programming of robotics and welding equipment (Fanuc & Lincoln).
3. Provide controls support to the plant floor including troubleshooting, programming and integration work.
4. Conveyor systems – Programming and troubleshooting.
5. Install or replace motors and drives as required.
6. Develop / modify HMI screens and layouts as required
7. Must follow all OSHA and plant safety rules including, lock-out tag-out, etc…
8. Performs electrical duties such as wiring equipment and troubleshooting electrical issues
9. Reads, interprets, and creates equipment manuals and work orders to perform required duties.
10. Support Operational Performance Metrics and meet targets for improvement
11. Project management and lead of plant floor improvement controls projects as assigned by management
12. Assist in continued development of the training program for maintenance employees
13. Monitor the line and robot operations to identify opportunities to reduce line cycle time
14. Extensive knowledge of AB RS Logix 5000, safety PLCs and/or Siemens TIA Portal preferred
15. Attend all company-provided training for personal development as required
16. Any other duties deemed necessary or appropriate by management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. HS diploma/GED + advanced technical training in electrical, robotics, and PLC’s
2. BS in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of experience preferred, or at least 10 years of job-related 
experience/proven expertise.
3. Previous experience with project management or integration
4. Required - AB RS Logix 5000 – Control logix, compact logix, etc…
5. Required - Siemens TIA Portal 
6. Required - Ethernet IP / ProfiNet communication protocols

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1.  AB RS Logix 5000 – Control logix, compact logix, etc…
2.  Siemens TIA Portal 
3.  AB PowerFlex or Siemens G120 Drives
4.  Fanuc robotics programming and electrical maintenance
5.  HAAS CNC’s
6.  Ethernet IP / ProfiNet communication protocols
7.  HMI development and programming
8.  Draw and interpret electrical diagrams
9.  Panel wiring, high voltage and low voltage circuits
10. Machine vision – Keyence, Cognex, Banner, etc… - integration and troubleshooting
11. Bosch weld timers
12. Lincoln PowerWave or Fronious weld power supplies
13. Desire for continued growth and development
