Robotics Engineer - Chattanooga, TN - Chassis Plant III
Role Summary:
Manage all robotic processes, robot safety, robotic training, and any other robotic-related activities in the facility. Be the direct point of contact and expert-level support person for facility regarding robotics.
Key Responsibility:
- Oversee and coordinate all robotic process changes and improvement activities in the plant.
- Aids in the development of continuous improvement activities within the automation group.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and program-related robotic issues, including auxiliary equipment.
- Develop the robotics training program for maintenance employees and administer testing as required.
- Utilize robotic simulation software as necessary to plan changes to process.
Key Qualifications / Requirements:
- Expert level knowledge of FANUC robotics.
- Perform PLC troubleshooting / programming as necessary.
- Develops and executes process changes for robotic processes with support from process engineers.
- Provides guidance on preventative maintenance procedures for robots.
- Monitors line cycle time and directly responsible for machine process time in the line.
Knowledge and Education:
- Certifications in robotics (programming, mechanical, electrical, etc. FANUC preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of robotic systems and processes - MIG/MAG welding, spot welding, material handling, adhesive, etc.
- Exposure to specific systems and/or equipment in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred.)
- Ability to demonstrate expert-level knowledge in field.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on related experience required, previous integration experience preferred
- Perform basic, intermediate and high-level programming as required.
- Experience in supervising other employees; including training & development
- Ability to write programs from scratch, background edit, and perform touchups.
- Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes within a welding environment.
