Apprenticeship 3rd Shift Assembly - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1
Role Summary
A Tool and Die Apprentice receives work experience and job related education in all phases of the tool and die occupation, including but not limited to tool and die repair/improvement/maintenance activities as well as safe work practices, which are necessary to develop the skill and proficiency of a skilled professional. This occurs under the guidance of a trained professional during the duration of the apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain tooling to insure quality production parts
- Read & interpret blueprints/drawings and job orders for product specifications
- Set-up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as Lathes, Mills, presses, grinders etc., to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications
- Reading and understanding the apprenticeship standards and signing the apprenticeship agreement;
- Voluntarily accepting all the responsibilities and obligations commonly recognized as a part of such apprenticeship and such others as may be assigned to the Apprentice by the Committee and/or Program Sponsor as a means of facilitating the administration of the Apprenticeship Program.
- Develop safe working habits, and conduct oneself at all times in a creditable, ethical manner.
- Maintaining a record of his or her work experience/training on the job
- All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to die setting as required.
Knowledge and Education
- Working knowledge of measuring tools, hand tools & various machining equipment
- Must have the ability to trouble-shoot tooling problems
- Ability to read & interpret blue prints, specs and work instructions
- Math skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures including wearing and using required PPE at all times
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Must be able to work well with other members of the department
- Must be willing to work any shift as Plant schedule and/or manpower requirements deem necessary.
