Cold Press Production Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Production Press Manager is responsible for leading team members in the production of quality products to meet customer order requirements and ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Management:
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Strong leadership with the ability to effectively identify and implement changes where needed.
• Lead and manage the production team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
• Set goals and objectives for the department, aligning with our company strategies.
• Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging continuous improvement, collaboration, and problem-solving.
• Plan and administer personnel capacity for optimal production.
• Experience leading employees in an automotive manufacturing setting
Press Operations:
• Cascade and allocate key departmental objectives to the team to the shop floor SQDCM scoreboards, monitor and action through team trends that go flat/negative.
• Identify trends, analyze and manage systemic issues in the area, address flat/negative trends, and initiate cross-functional countermeasures capable of addressing complex issues
• Monitor production metrics and implement improvements to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime
• Ensure direct reports acquire the skill set and knowledge they need to be successful in their job. Analyze training needs and ensure development opportunities. Follow-up on completion and effectiveness of training activities.
• Lead, teach, and coach problem-solving efforts for problems beyond their ability/resources to ensure the problem is solved and that the issue is closed.
• Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles
• Collaborate with quality and multifunctional teams to implement inspection processes and quality gates
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any quality issues
• Plan, organize, and manage daily operations to meet production schedules and quality standards
• Leads daily production meetings to communicate production goals and provide feedback on overall team performance.
• Responsible for the engineering functions of the press dept.
• Participation in the Internal ISO/TS 16949 Audit schedule (applies only to certified ISO/TS 16949 internal auditors).
• Participation and cooperation in answering questions and providing information for internal and external audits regarding or related to ISO/TS 16949, VDA 6.3, and customer standards. Other related activities as related to the scope of the position.
Training & Development:
• Analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities
• Identify and lead the development of training.
• Mentor, train, and empower teams to provide feedback and drive continuous improvements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. BS in Operations Management, or other similar field, with experience in automotive manufacturing.
2. 8+ years of experience in automotive transfer/prog press metal stamping.
3. Experience supervising employees in an automotive manufacturing setting.
4. Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing teams and driving successful and sustained process improvements
5. Demonstrated and can verbalize where, when, and how they have implemented successful continuous improvement projects, both long-term and short-term.
