Laser Team Lead 2nd Shift - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1

Role Summary 

Fast paced position requiring enough technical knowledge of all the equipment in laser department in order to avoid an interruption in production. Coordinate with support teams to ensure production targets are accomplished.
Lead is responsible for all activities that occur in his/her department , he/she should be knowledgeable of all processes, procedures, and instructions that are applicable in his/her department.
Serve as a role model for operators on safety, quality, attendance, conduct, performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensuring work environment is safe, secure, and healthy (including associates have PPE).
  • Make sure that all safety practices are followed by all personnel to Gestamp standards especially LOTO.
  • Ensure that all data is entered into Captor at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain all material on the floor with the proper identification (labels).
  • Ensure Standardized Work Instructions are followed.
  • Supports the team in Operational improvement.
  • Must know how to operate laser cells efficiently.
  • Train associates on the efficient operation of laser cells in order to obtain 85% OEE.
  • Build bench strength by cross training colleagues.
  • Conduct daily Quality Checks and Inspections.
  • Assist in change over process as needed
  • Problem Solving – focus on cells with OEE deficiencies and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Understand and adhere to Quality Management System procedures and strive to keep defective parts from leaving the plant. Ensure that Quality Checks and Inspections are completed properly.
  • Communicate Quality alerts and follow up with the process.
  • Coordinate labor allocation and cross training. 
  • Maintain the area clean, uncluttered and organized.
  • Constant communication with immediate superior following the escalation process.
  • Perform other assigned duties as deemed necessary or appropriate.
  • Backfill when necessary at other workstations.
  • Make sure employees meet performance expectations.

 

Knowledge and Education 

  • High school education and diploma (or GED equivalent).
  • Previous employment in a manufacturing environment.

  • The individual must be flexible relative to the work schedule, including possible mandatory overtime.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear
  • Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The ability to listen to  and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understand
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
