Robotics Manufacturing Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
The Robotics Engineer will apply knowledge in robotics, supporting manufacturing operations for an Automotive structural stamping, welding, and assembly operation. The candidate will assist in the training of maintenance technicians as well as advanced troubleshooting, repairs, programming, cycle time reduction, and zone structures to prevent downtime. This candidate will lead throughput improvement/maintenance projects from inception to completion by providing proper leadership to the maintenance and operations teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recommend and implement process improvements and cycle time reductions through optimization of robot paths and programs;
Assist maintenance technicians during major fault issues and assist with determining reasons for downtime;
Assist with the development of corrective and preventive maintenance procedures, as well as training maintenance technicians in their use;
Collect, monitor, and implement corrective actions for downtime issues resulting from robotic operations;
Participate in engineering change teams, manage and execute projects for implementation of changes;
Remain current with the most recent trends and technology relating to robotic applications;
Implement best practices and products for robot dress packs;
Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards and policies;
Understand and adhere to all required GPS standards;
Participate in the creation and support of systems, documentation, and actions to ensure conformance to Quality (TS) and Environmental (ISO) management systems;
Actively participate in Layered Process Audits;
Conduct internal ISO/TS 16949 audits (applies only to certified ISO/TS 16949 internal auditors);
Participate in and cooperate with internal and external ISO/TS 16949, VDA 6.3, and customer audits, responding to requests for information and answering questions;
Complete any other necessary duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or other technical discipline plus some experience in a controls/robotic environment; -or- Associate of Science degree in Electronics Technology plus robotics experience in a controls/robotics environment;
-or- Seven (7) plus years of experience and training in a similar role and environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Advance knowledge of Robot Programming (Fanuc/Motoman)
Basic knowledge of PLC
Strong PC and computer skills; Knowledge of networks - ethernet and Dnet a huge plus!
Knowledge of MIG & Spot welding
Sealer Systems
Pneumatic knowledge
Basic understanding and the ability to interpret electrical diagrams
Ability to work in a team-based, lean-manufacturing environment;
