Shipping Clerk 2nd Shift - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1
Role Summary
Assists Materials Manager and Materials Supervisors in planning and controlling shipping operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance, instruction and direction to 8-12 shipping drivers on all 3 docks at any time.
- Responsible for the preparation of Bills of Lading, Export documents, etc.
- Transmits Advanced Shipping Notifications upon departures from facility.
- Verify shipping label bar codes to Bill of Lading quantities before loading.
- Direct shift supervisor for shipping requirements.
- Issue bar codes from finished inventory after shipment and verify MAPICS “SA” transaction/SAP for accuracy.
- Prepare shipping schedule.
- Miscellaneous filing and maintaining of inventory records.
- Report and analyze Finished Goods Inventory overage and shortage
- Responsible for escalating any parts that are missed across ALL departments.
- Will be responsible for running the day to day activities when supervisor is out.
- Will be in constant communication with customers on a day to day basis to cover part shipments.
Knowledge and Education
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous shipping receiving experience – 5+ years desired.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Familiarity with computers, including windows programs and the SAP Interface.
- Knowledge of parts’ code numbers, proper rack, destination, standard pack and other pertinent information.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Communications skills, both on the telephone and in person.
- Understanding of inventory control.
- Knowledge of computer applications relating to customer and Inventory control: Future 3, SAP, Mapics, Supplyweb, etc.
- Must know layout of plant.
- Must be forklift certified.
