JOB SUMMARY
An HSE Manager leads a team, inspects work areas, products, and associate work habits to ensure that everything is in compliance with GHSI, OHSA rules safety and environmental guidelines, and makes changes to improve the safety of the workplace when necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Designs and implements safety programs, to include developing safety methods, procedures, and policies based on company guidelines. Monitors STOP program and company metrics analysis and improvement system.
2. Monitors work place on a daily basis to ensure all activity meets safety compliance
3. Performs job analysis and measures and evaluates the effectiveness of safety policies, and makes needed modifications.
4. Responds to on-site emergencies and accidents, facilitates the emergency response Team (ERT), safety team, and environmental team.
5. Manages worker’s compensation recordkeeping and responds to employee accidents with treatment, follow-up and internal reporting.
6. Identifies environmental, health and safety hazards Identifies hazards or faults that caused the accident and devises strategic plan to remedy those problems.
7. Initiates, performs, and oversees all aspects of operations, technical, safety, environmental and quality training and documentation.
8. Stays up to date on state and federal workplace safety regulations.
9. Runs informational meetings for employees regarding proper environmental, health, and safety procedures.
10. Fields inquiries from employees about proper safety procedures.
11. Investigates on-the-job accidents and documents reports and investigations.
12. Recruits, hires, and trains new safety associates to assist in audits and other oversight.
13. Knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements.
14. Performs other assigned duties as necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree (preferred), but any combination of degree and 2 – 5 years’ experience.
Manufacturing experience - Automotive preferred
Coursework and training in occupational safety requirements and OHSA guidelines is required.
