Short Description

Role Summary

This position is responsible for directing the work of the maintenance technicians as assigned, as well as conducting maintenance work directly. The Lead Maintenance Technician will direct maintenance activities for his respective area with a clear goal of continuously improving uptime, OEE, PM completion, and customer service. Clear communications with the Production and Quality departments, the Maintenance Manager, and Maintenance Technicians is an essential function of this job and will be key in the success of not only the department but the entire organization.

Key Responsibilities

•Understand and comply with all OSHA, safety, PPE, ISO and environmental requirements.

•Assists in the development of work instructions, training on processes, and supervises daily operations.

•Acts in direct supervision of the Maintenance Technicians.

•Serves as the technical leader, developing and enforcing standard work for Maintenance.

•Responsible for coordinating all corrective and preventive maintenance activities for the assigned area, including both internal and external resources.

•Communicate clearly and frequently with production and quality departments on equipment issues and anticipated corrective actions to include timing.

•Plans maintenance activity for all shifts and effectively communicates this information to the off-shift lead technicians and Maintenance Manager.

•Work with and inspect the work of the maintenance technicians, ensuring best practices are being applied.

•Responsible for the continuous improvement:  Uptime, OEE, employee development, PM, spare parts, engineering changes, and 5S.

•Creates documentation for operators and maintenance personnel to follow in operating or working on equipment.

•Assess technical skills of maintenance technicians and identify appropriate training needs.

•Monitors and reports daily activities with regards to maintenance projects and ongoing work schedules.

•Leads daily team meetings to communicate goals and provide feedback on overall team performance.

•Evaluates employee areas of improvement and implements strategies relating to employee development.

•Provides overall employee/team development strategies through training, coaching, counseling, and performance measurement.

•Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production, and performs scheduled maintenance and repairs of production equipment during machine service.

•Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.

•Performs mechanical skills, including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulics and PLC troubleshooting and repair of production equipment.

 

Education & Experience

•Associate’s degree (A.A.), advanced technical training in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC preferred. Moderate experience in a combination of mechanical, electrical and hydraulics required.

•Journeyman card or additional experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, electronics and mechanical preferred.

•Ability to work 12-hour shifts required.

•MS Office

•SAP

•Equipment maintenance management

•Basic electrical, DC and AC voltage; will be changing prox cords and prox switches.

•Basic welding: laser, ARC, MIG, TIG and Spot.

•Basic plumbing, cooling water for welding.

•Work a flexible schedule
