Role Summary
The Industry 4.0 Engineer position uses data collection and analysis to develop, lead and train cross functional teams to implement lean strategies and deploy plant objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead in Developing and implementing the Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing infrastructure supporting change.
• Assist in identifying and implementing strategies for improvements in safety, quality, cost and productivity.
• Track and publish accurate open capacity analysis for all key manufacturing equipment.
• Facilitates and Evaluates all Continuous Improvement programs and activities ensuring that events, milestones and deliverables are met on time and on budget.
• Assists with cost/benefit analysis of continuous improvement proposals and prioritizes activities.
• Maximizes efficiencies using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Strive to eliminate waste in our manufacturing, launch and related processes.
• Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems (captor and i4.0) and applications to assist in continuous improvement efforts.
• Follow up to determine the effectiveness of any new methods introduced.
• Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately.
• Keep work area clean and orderly to prevent safety hazards.
• Assure adherence to quality policies and procedures including acceptable work standards, customer specifications and IPI requirements, to also include participation in the creation and support of systems, documentation and actions to ensure continued conformance to Quality (IATF) and Environmental (ISO) management systems.
• Observe and follow company policies and maintain proper standards of conduct at all times.

Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field required.
• At least 3 years manufacturing engineering experience required, emphasis on metal stamping and assembly preferred.
• Metal stamping and assembly process design and build experience preferred.
• At least 5 years’ experience with the development of technology for manufacturing, and the application of technology on the shop floor.
• Experience working with IoT for I4.0 or related system required.
• At least 3 years coding experience beyond simple scripts preferred.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Expert knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, oral and written.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI.
• Working knowledge of Captor data collection systems.
• Ability to travel to manufacturing sites up to 10%.
• Ability to teach and coach the principles developed.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office.
• Must be able to remain in standing position 60% of the time and alternate between sitting and standing as needed.
• Occasionally lift and/or move materials up to 50 pounds.
• Exposed to temperature and humidity variations through the seasons of the year.
• Work performed in an environment where noise levels exceed 85 decibels and hearing protection is required.
• Able to listen to and communicate information clearly and concisely both in person and over the phone.
