Role Summary
The Methodics Engineer supports and leads dimensional accuracy, tooling performance, and continuous improvement activities across assembly, stamping, and tooling operations. This role combines hands‑on mechanical adjustment of assembly fixtures and tooling with leadership and coordination of dimensional control activities to ensure compliance with customer quality specifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform mechanical adjustments to weld fixtures, assembly tooling, and dies to maintain dimensional accuracy of assemblies.
• Develop and execute work plans to achieve dimensional and surface improvements.
• Implement and maintain dimensional control systems to track variations and deviations.
• Maintain shim logs and dimensional records for fixtures.
• Provide technical leadership to toolmakers, maintenance personnel, and tooling teams.
• Support corrective actions, root‑cause analysis, and process improvements.
• Support new model development, tooling buy‑off, and line tryout activities.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on fixtures, dies, and assembly tooling.
• Monitor spare‑parts inventory and initiate reorders.
• Document completed tasks and maintain organized work areas.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules and PPE.
Education & Experience
• Mechanical Engineering degree; or 8–10 years Tool & Die experience.
• 10–15 years of metal stamping or tooling experience preferred.
• 5+ years in tooling, die work, or maintenance in automotive manufacturing.
• Leadership experience with Tier 1 automotive suppliers preferred.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Strong understanding of tooling adjustments and dimensional correction.
• Knowledge of metal forming, tooling construction, GD&T, welding, fabrication, and machining.
• Familiarity with APQP, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Windows.
• Strong multitasking, prioritization, and communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception.
• Exposure to moderate noise; hearing PPE required.
• Ability to concentrate in a fast‑paced environment and perform complex problem solving.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules including 12‑hour shifts.
