Business Development Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Engineer will support the coordination and completion of all technical cost estimating and financial evaluation activities with Gestamp Chelsea. The Business Development Engineer will interact with core team members to ensure that all milestones are being completed in order to provide our customer(s) with accurate and timely quotes that meet company hurdle rates relating to technical requirements and financial results.

Responsibilites

Coordinate the technical costing of quotations with Gestamp Chelsea in accordance with established guidelines and managing the status of all new opportunities and engineering changes.
Create and coordinate the financial models to evaluate technical feasibility and profitability of quotations for new business to ensure returns meet corporate targets.
Understand current manufacturing operations and standard costing rates used in quotations including knowledge of capabilities and capacity at each location.
Support Gestamp Chelsea to develop cost assumptions for new products and business.
Have a full understanding and ability to create customer quotations, cost breakdowns, financial models, and other required forms.
Work with sales team to identify and outline quote parameters for new customer RFQ’s.
Participate in financial and quote review meetings with Gestamp Chelsea Leadership.
Support the development / implementation of a sales and capital database.
Act as a strong interface and build relationships with business units.
Attend customer and internal meetings as required.
Assist in the development of department standards and procedures. 
Assist in the coordination of supporting quote documents, i.e. Bills of Material, Statement of Requirements, etc.
Actively participate in the Business Planning process
Support Program Management as needed
 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree with major in engineering, business administration, or finance.
Experience with metal stamping or assembly preferred.

Skills and Abilities

    Ability to represent Gestamp in a positive and productive manner under all conditions involving direct customer interface.
Communication Skills: Keeps others informed as appropriate.  Demonstrates exceptional written, oral, and listening skills. Proven ability to communicate at all levels of Management in order to satisfy company goals and objectives. 
Technical Skills: Possesses, acquires, and maintains the technical/professional expertise required to do the job effectively and to create client/customer solutions. 
    Experienced in standard costing procedures and requirements.
    Knowledge of financial principles, and ability to interpret financial models.
    Strong MS Office skills; Word, Excel and Access
    Ability to read blueprints.
    Understanding of IATF principals and requirements, and commitment to meet all standards. 
Collaboration: Builds constructive working relationships with clients/customers, other departments, organizations and others to meet mutual goals and objectives.
