Material Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

Analyze material needs based on customer releases and communicate the needs and releases to suppliers to maintain an appropriate material flow and lean inventory compared to releases, potential bank build needs, and new program needs. Performs all duties as required to maintain and manage supplier relations, manages EDI and ASN for incoming materials and assists the receiving associate with troubleshooting issues as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Analyze customer releases in SAP and cascade requirements down to suppliers to ensure a proper material flow and lean inventory maintained at the plant
2.    Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials as per customer releases and production scheduling.
3.    Coordinate information between customer releases, Inventory Control, and suppliers to minimize expedite requirements.4.    Manage required expedites to ensure proper coverage due to inventory loss, customer release increases, bank builds, etc.
5.    Monitor and track the status of material, including past dues, and escalate issues to MP&L Manager regarding material availability as required.
6.    Collaborate on cross-functional job tasks with other departments to ensure proper material flow between the departments.
7.    Analyze and generate reports on material availability, lead times, and supplier performance as needed.
8.    Establish/Maintain healthy relationships with suppliers and participate in supplier visits as deemed necessary.
9.    Works closely with SAP Master User and Production Planner/Scheduler to plan, communicate, and release to suppliers via SAP.
10.    Completes training and maintains working knowledge in all customer software/portals, Supplier Exchange, SAP, and other platforms as required. 
11.    Supports other team members as needed and provides support and absence coverage for other Material Analysts
12.    Assist with the set up of new programs and the end of life for programs coming to a close by assisting with forecasts, supplier evaluations.
13.    Assists in writing, reviewing, and/or implementing procedures and work instructions when applicable to the job role.
14.    Collaborates with other MP&L team members to assist in bettering work practices and escalates improvement ideas to the MP&L Manager.
15.    Participates in internal and external audits, including but not limited to Quality Audits, Customer Audits, and Customer qualification audits such as (but not limited to) Q1, IATF.
16.    Performs any other tasks as deemed necessary by MP&L Manager, Plant Director, or Assistant Plant Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1.    Bachelor Degree in related field (or equivalent work experience).
2.    Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience required.
3.    Experience in SAP
4.    Experience with Standard Work Systems
5.    Computer experience Excel.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1.    Demonstrated proficiency in using SAP for material planning, procurement, and/or material management.
2.    Strong analytical skills to assess data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
3.    Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in recording and analyzing data.4.    Excellent and effective communication skills to communicate and collaborate with suppliers and internal team.
5.    Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
6.    Ability and willingness to take direction and receive constructive feedback as required.
7.    Problem-solving skills to address issues related to material availability, supplier delays, and inventory discrepancies when pertaining to production requirements.
8.    Knowledge of supply-chain processes and best practices for material management.
9.    Understanding knowledge of procurement principles, including vendor relations.
10.    Proficiency in the Microsoft platform, including strong skills in Microsoft Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and other tasks.
11.    Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements in a dynamic manufacturing environment. 
12.    Sense of ownership of the area under their charge, and full responsibility for safety, OEE, throughput and quality.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
