JOB DESCRIPTION

The Quality Engineer will implement, support, and maintain the manufacturing quality systems to ensure quality products are received from suppliers and parts are delivered on-time to the customer with the highest quality standards. The Quality Engineer will perform audits to ensure conformance to established quality systems, and will develop suppliers to ensure a high quality incoming product.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Work with Engineering and Operations to develop FMEA’s, control plans, flow diagrams, part history records, inspection instructions, standardized work instructions, and other necessary documentation or systems related to Quality;

2. Manage APQP and new product/ Engineering changes leading to effectively PPAP new product or engineering changes to customers;

3. Maintain access to customer portals, obtain and communicate customer specifications;

4. Develop and analyze statistical data and process output with a goal of continuous improvement;

5. Develop statistical analysis and prepare reports/studies as needed;

6. Train and instruct team members on the use of statistical process control and assist operations in charting and interpretation of data;

7. Train and instruct team members in the proper use of quality systems and best practices;

8. Initiate and lead root cause analysis and problem solving efforts with applicable team members;

9. Lead problem definition and resolution activities for customers;

10. Perform audits of quality documentation, processes, and production systems;

11. Assist suppliers with development of process control, capability, and continuous improvement;

12. Create reports and presentations in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

13. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, employing 5S principles;

14. Lead internal and external certification audits and customer audits, supporting site initiatives towards achieving and maintaining customer awards as well as quality and environmental certifications (IATF, TS, ISO);

15. Adhere to Team Handbook, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures;

16. Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.

Education and Experience:

1.  Bachelor's degree in Quality or related field, or a combination of education and applicable work-related experience

2.  Minimum of two (2) years of job related work experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably for an automotive OEM supplier

3.  Experience with metal stamping, weld assembly, and/or E-coat pain processes strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

1. In-depth knowledge of GD&T, CMM data, and TS/ISO

2. Ability to communicate with customers and internal teams in a professional and knowledgeable manner;

3. Strong knowledge in the use of measuring equipment for related analysis and testing;

4. High level of critical thinking and analytical skills to perform complex problem solving;

5. Strong organizational and computer skills;

6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings;

7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills;

8. Desire to work in a team-based, lean-manufacturing environment;

9. Willingness to travel for training, and as other business needs may dictate

3. Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds

4. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time

5. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

6. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

7. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand

8. The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
