Material Planner - West Virginia

Job Summary

  • Administrate and communicate supplier demand to assure delivery of product to the plant in time and quantity.

Duties and Resposiblities

  • Understand and comply with all OSHA, safety and PPE requirements
  • Create Purchase Orders and Scheduling Agreements for all raw steel and purchased components within the plant.
  • Generate and communicate to supply base plant demand using SAP for planning.
  • Participate in engineering changes and new launches meetings. 
  • Follow up with suppliers discrepancies.
  • Monitors and reports receipts, production, scrap, and other inventory-related data on the computer to accurately maintain inventory levels of production material;
  • Confers with other departments to coordinate flow of materials and resolve errors;
  • Monitors the scheduling of incoming production material to ensure adequate inventory levels;
  • Analyzes cycle count adjustments to ensure accurate inventory accountability and make recommendations to the Materials Manager;
  • Expedites incoming material as required;
  • Reviews weekly release data to include Demand Management, MRP – MAPICS , and SAP;
  • Monitors suppliers and commercial carriers to ensure that deliveries scheduled are consistently met and any error rectified on a timely basis;
  • Writes procedures as directed for Receiving, Material Flow, etc.  Assists in training as required;
  • Support team functions by:
    • Kaizen submittal and implementation
    • Cross-training with others 
    • Backfills other materials positions as needed
    • Problem solving
    • Supports materials metrics and meets materials needs 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred o r 3-5 years manufacturing/planning
  • SAP experience preferred
