Job Summary

The Production Planner creates (through MRP and Industry 4.0 planning tool) short to medium term production plans, analysis and sends production plans to the Production team(s). The Production Planner maintains master data (i.e. MRP settings) in Gestamp ERP system according to local and/or group policies. He/she ensures availability of material throughout the production process (WIP) and to meet customer schedules (FG). The Production Planner is responsible to follow up with different departments throughout the internal manufacturing process regarding production schedules, tool & die availability, throughput, planned and unplanned interventions, schedule attainment as well as provides direction with prioritization of production orders when required.

Job Description

  • Ensures ERP (SAP) Material Master Data accuracy in particular MRP relevant entries (Minimum Run Sizes &Lot Quantities, Safety Stock, Safety Time, etc.)
  • Validates Industry 4.0 Production Planning tool (Virtual Planner) plans/schedules. Analyses and maintains data accuracy. Monitors and changes production plan/schedule.
  • Analyzes WIP & Finished Goods inventories requirements on daily basis considering resource availability along with future forecast plans. Assure customer demand is met timely and accurate while maintaining compliance to set inventory goals.
  • Daily follow up with production department regarding scheduled production quantities. Escalate and/or create run out plans in the event production falls behind.
  • Participate in engineering changes and new launch meetings.
  • Monitor material inventories, tracking progress of production and reviewing factors that affect schedules.
  • Communicates any possible line disruptions due to issues related to equipment availability or quality of parts to his/her supervisor.
  • Prepares periodic capacity analysis across all internal manufacturing processes, considering banks, planned interventions and launch/trial activities.
  • Participates in regular production capacity reviews with plant management.
  • Validates and maintains MRP relevant Master Data.
  • Understand and comply with all OSHA, Safety and PPE Requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School or GED required; BS preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in supply chain, materials management, production control, production scheduling and procurement
  • Lean Manufacturing methodologies (Pull system, JIT, SMED, Standardized Work etc.) a plus.
  • APICS Certification a plus (i.e.: CPIM etc.)
  • ERP and MRP experience required; SAP experience required.
  • Experience working within automotive component stamping and assembly manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with automotive suppliers. 
  • Familiarity with automotive standards i.e., AIAG, VDA, MMOG/LE a plus
