Job Summary

As Quality Systems Engineer, responsible for all processes related to the maintenance and sustainability of the GWV Quality Management System (QMS).  Plans & conducts activities concerned with the Quality Systems in regard to “Customer Specific Requirements”.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
  • Assists in the development of Standards and Procedures for Quality, Manufacturing & Engineering as well as other suport processes.
  • Manages the internal audit and corrective action programs, including but not limited to IATF 16949, ISO14001, VDA, FormelQ, BIQS, Q1, CQI-9, etc.
  • Implements and maintains ISO/IATF 16949 automotive Quality Management System standard requirements, IATF 16949 Sanctioned Interpretations requirements, all applicable customer specific requirements, etc.
  • Controls all quality system documents and company policies.
  • Controls external reference documents, i.e. AIAG reference manuals, etc.
  • Interfaces with third-party auditing companies.
  • Proactively seeks & analyzes existing Quality Process for Improvement.
  • Documents data obtained during all activities consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Develops new approaches to reinforce company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during Internal Audits and provides recommended process improvements to Management.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality system activities.
  • Tracks all Production Plants Certification Schedules.
  • Monthly update of plant and corporate metrics
  • Any tasks deemed necessary by management.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, at least 5 years working experience working in Automotive Quality Management.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as customer requirements, operating and maintenance instructions,and Procedure Manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Development and implementation of quality systems and standards (FMEA’s, PPAP, Control Plans, MSA’s, APQP).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge base of GWV produced parts.
  • Computer skills including Ms Office Software.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems, TS 16949, AIAG Core Tools, and Customer Specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.Computer literacy and basic skills with MS Office Software (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, at a minimum).
  • Apply policies and work instructions. 
  • Analytical skills.
  • Critical Thinking.
  • Complex problem solving. 
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish or German) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear.
  • Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and 25 pounds overhead.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Good hearing is required.
  • Good dexterity with hands and good hand-eye coordination. 
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so other will understand.
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Handle the stress of a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work overtime as needed and travel as required.
  • Work a flexible schedule and extended hours on occasions.
